What may be by far the most shocking revelations has rocked the British Royal Court when they found Abdul Karim's diary containing details of his secret affair with the British Queen whose reign lasted for 64 years. Abdul Karim, a simple Indian from Agra was employed as her servant when he arrived in England in the year 1887. Queen Victoriawas 47 years his senior according to the author Shrabani Basu’s book “Victoria & Abdul”. Abdul’s lost diary had all the details of his letters and pictures which were kept close to their heart by his family over the years which was discovered by Shirbani Basu and this has sent huge shock waves among the British Kingdom.
I read this news on
Karim’s superior officer at India’s Central Jail Dr.Tyler went sightseeing to Madam Tussauds and the zoo, but Dr. Tyler asserted that his prime purpose to visit the U.K.was to see the queen.
He further recounts: "Dr Tyler and I were instructed to take our station near the dining room and wait her Majesty''s coming. I was somewhat nervous at the approach of the Great Empress who soon entered accompanied by
"Dr Tyler at once did homage by kneeling, whilst I did the same in Oriental style. I presented nazars, or gifts by exposing, in the palms of my hands, a gold mohar (a coin) which Her Majesty touched and remitted as is Indian custom.
The Queen was thereafter pleased to speak to Dr Tyler and so ended my interview with the Empress of India." These were the details shared by MSN News for India.
How controversial was the relationship? Only the book can tell. The news certainly reveals the fact that Queen Victoria had some amount of affection for Abdul Karim.

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)I hope it turns out they had an affair. It would make her seem more human.I guess so. :-) All of them have their shortcomings isn't it? :-)
Interesting story DMWhen I read it, I thought, what if she did have an affair or affection for him? But it isn't wrong after all she is human too and nobody knows what the true situation was which forced her to have a special liking for him. The book would definitely be interesting. Thank you for commenting.
On reading all the material available on the subject, I am convinced that all the reports of scandal or amorous relationship between the queen and A. Karim are only speculative and there is no concrete evidence. She could have motherly affection for Karim. It is human tendency to scandalise even a normal relation between a woman and man. Queen & Karim seem to have fallen victim of the same, hundred years after their death.Thank you for comments. Well, we never know what kind of love they shared. A mutual respect and affection could have been there without any lustful attraction. Who knows? It depends what the books says and they haven't leaked anything further.
That darned old attraction of the flesh seems to touch us all at one time or another, thank God.Thank you, sir. Was it attraction of the flesh or just a mutual respect and affection? That's questionable. When Osama's grandson who was 28 around the time when he married a British grandmother of 57, anything is possible. :-) After all, she was the monarch and why wouldn't he want to make use of the situation.
