Can we Think Positive? - Give it a Try

We can all develop positive thinking only if we learn to develop peace within our minds. Unfortunately, our long working hours create a lot of mental stress draining out every bit of our energy. This certainly doesn't give us the stamina and breathing space to pay attention to our loved ones. The first reaction towards someone very close who tries to seek attention from us is only irrtation, anger or some kind of verbal abuse. This is the first step towards creating a negative society. The child gets affected from this and goes to school and shows similar attitude towards others because that is what he/she is learning from their parents.

The next is when you move out into the city, the same stress built up in your mind is working in the sub-conscious and you refuse to show attitude of humility and manners when somebody upsets you by mistake or if things just don't go your way. That energy of agitation has been transferred to another mind. You have created a "belief" in that person which forces them to think - these days humans are no good and not to be trusted. The virus is now beginning to grow and spread around slowly and from your home it has gone to spread all over the town, to the next city, and the whole country and finally, it begins to spread all over the world.

Negative thoughts play a huge factor behind natural catastrophes too. That is because we tend to project our stress on nature too. Insecurity increases more with stress and we feel that money is never enough and we look to monetize everything we see in life. This is creating a competition among people and nations. The economies are competing with each other. With competition, there is jealousy, with jealousy, there is manipulation, with manipulation comes immorality and dishonesty and with dishonesty, quarrel happens, and this quarrel brings war. The war destroys natural resources, and finally a disaster like the earthquake or a tsunami occurs. A tsunami occurs, because our "single negative thought" has multiplied into infinite thoughts causing the death of many around us.

How to convert these negative thoughts into positive thinking? We can create positive thinking only through soul introspection. I know many of you question if there is anything known as permanence. There is permanence of something deep within each and everyone of us. That permanence is nothing but "Good". You can call that permanent feeling as "God" too. This permanence has to be developed slowly with practice. Controlling our minds continuously by not allowing anger to take over us and also whenever we feel like criticising somebody, we must overcome that attitude with patience and try to see the root cause of imperfection in the person, and last but not the least, "Never judge anybody except yourself."

We are very quick to move far away from somebody whom we can't handle or we are not easy with because their habits are not fine. The challenge lies right there to conquer our minds instead of going away from them. Even if you go and sit inside a cave for peace, the mind is full of chatter, past memories which are good and bad and finally, you have to come back to the world to seek some pleasure which you have been missing. When you come back again, you will again have good and bad experiences.

Controlling negative thoughts means, cultivating patience with the people around you. Learning to live with patience, accepting imperfections and yet serving one another with no prejudice, no attitude of superiority and always standing up for each other. If a group of ten people can think positive and force something good to happen, you see the change already happening. Similarly, when ten people come out with guns to rob a locality, they shoot the people down and rape women and leave. This is because there has been negative thinking and lack of education and their minds haven't been trained well.

Always, thoughts control our good and bad experiences. If we want to avert a tsunami or an earthquake, we must be strong willed and create a positive force and stay united together. We must stop saying "It was God's will and only because you haven't accepted this religion or that God, He is showing anger on us." You are the God and you got to bring in Godly qualities in you first so you can extend the energy of positive change.

The change must come from within. The power of healing lies right within you and you can share it with the world. Heal the world!

Yes DM the world does need a lot of help. having a positive mind can help us get through difficult times.

only by being positive we say "I'll do the best I can" not "I'm going to win" the latter being the work of the devil.

A very positive article, DM. Nowadays, one can easily create a "war" just being at home , a "war zone" among the people living there.

Human morality has become like immune overtaken by worldly control systems.

You are spot on, Hilda. We home can't be perfect, then we cannot expect the world to be the same.

Lots of people talk about positive thinking in such a superficial way, it drives me crazy - you know, just change your thoughts and everything will be fine and dandy!

But you bring a depth to it - it seems to me you're really talking about positive being, or conscious being. Yes? :) I love what you say here, Shyam - "You are the God and you got to bring in Godly qualities in you first so you can extend the energy of positive change."

Yes, Jennifer. We are made in "His" image, meaning we are His reflection, but our mind is covered with egotistical tendencies. So when this dust is not cleared off, then the mirror soul in us cannot reflect the Godly qualities. Thank you. I was talking about the conscious being.

Another brilliant article DM and I agree with you, but as you so clearly articulate how to break out of negativity? The most scary thing is that it is so easy to become lost in what we are faced with, that it becomes our reality, all that exists, life and "the whole nine yards" (I am picking up Americanisms here, though probably outdated ones).

There is a glaring example of what you describe, right now in the public eye, to protect the innocent I do not name names. His name is "Gadafi" and he is quite clearly away from the real world and he is for sure spreading negativity in a very big way.

The problem DM is that many people are not even aware of the negativity that they are immersed within, it is their reality, it is how they have always viewed life and the world and it is how they lead their lives and this is the problem that the world faces right now and has always faced.

From time to time someone comes along, someone that can see very clearly the traps and snares awaiting us on our journey through life and very often he will be laughed at and belittled by those that believe they have achieved much within their lives irrespective of how they have achieved their huge "success"!

Why do people require, need, so much power, money. or whatever? Because they are unaware of a safety and security that exists beyond their wildest dreams, they are detached and live in a world of Shark infested waters.

I enjoy your observations and your wise words and share very much your observations and knowledge, but you and to a lesser extent I are a little like the small child trying to tell, warn the very important adult, excuse me sir, your trousers are on fire. Go away you annoying child. No really sir your trousers really are on fire!

Keep up the good work DM, one day the voices of reason when added together will be heard, will be taken note of and one day that very important adult will actually turn around and see that yes his trousers are actually on fire.

Thank you, Terence. Every single mind has become insecure today. It is a chain of thoughts and this chain can be broken even if one person starts to "live" differently.

Excellent advice DM. We need a lot more positive thinkers in the world. Positive thinking often leads to positive action.

Like I would tell my kids - positive thinking is useless without positive action.

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Teresa. Thought does lead to action, no doubt. So we must think positive and good.
