This is the third day of the fast and Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal agreed for dialogue and accepted to the terms of accepting 50:50, representation of civil society and Group of Ministers – but on an unofficial basis. The initial plan was to represent Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee as chairman of the group. The civil society had demanded that Mr. Anna Hazare should be honored as the chairman which wasn’t accepted again by the center.
If the bill gets passed and the law gets enacted, this will be one of the most historic moments not only for India but for the entire world which will be witnessing one of the first kinds of stringent laws which will enable an independent body like the Lokpal in the center and the Lokayukta in the states to investigate matters of corruption on any single politician, bureaucrat, member of the judiciary or government employee without the interference of the state or central government.
Once if any politician, bureaucrat or government officer is found guilty of accepting bribe or even if anybody is caught offering money, their minimum punishment awarded will be five years and a maximum of life imprisonment.
Each state will consist of a Lokayukta office which will listen to the grievances of the common citizen to ensure speedy issuance of voter’s card, ration card and passport. They will also ensure that the complaint is taken seriously if the government officer fails to deliver within the specified time and make him/her pay the financial penalty.
The bill promises that the prosecution must end within a year. So far, all the politicians and bureaucrats have been getting away with their crimes and nobody has been implicated. This is the bill which has been pushed forward by the Gandhian in the right moment and awakened the sleeping nation.
People are gathering in groups in different parts of the nation in support of Anna Hazare and they all want immediate action taken against corruption and enforce a law which shall punish all the guilty political goons who are sitting over there and laughing their ways to the Swiss Bank.
It is very unfortunate that the Prime Minister has chosen to evade this situation by keeping himself occupied till the 13th of May. Anna Hazare passed an innuendo at the PM saying the remote control is in the hands of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, which is the reason he is not able to do much, otherwise he is a very nice man.
The Prime Minister is definitely a man of integrity and honesty and there could never be a better time than this one to prove it by coming out in the open and exercising his maximum powers. If he shall take the step forward to support Anna Hazare’s cause then the whole nation shall be with him. The nation has woken up today to walk straight and forward to New Delhi and knock the doors of the parliament.
The fire of revolution has spread far and wide and each youth from each village, town and city is looking forward to this historic event and is vowing to support with full strength and voice. Anna Hazare has brought the government down to its feet with his courageous and non-violent act.
The time chosen for this revolution was right as India has just won the world cup and the nation was high in spirit of national integrity. The time has come to teach them a lesson. Egypthas been an inspiration to millions of Indians and they want to step up with a new example. One individual spoke to the newsporter and said, "When all of India can unite for the world cup, why not against corruption?" We have woken up.
What, Mahatma Gandhi did 64 years back has been repeated by Anna Hazare today and, has reminded us that Gandhiji’s footprints haven’t disappeared into the soil. The tri-colour of the Indian Nation will fly high with glory when each Indian sees his/her grievance answered and their integrity and individuality is respected when they walk into every government office for a ration card, voter’s ID or a passport. When we won’t have to stand long hours in the queue at any government office only to be shooed away and treated like flies and mosquitoes. The government officers won’t be able to behave is if they are doing a favour to the common citizen instead of serving them.
This bill will allow investigating organsations like the Central Bureau of Investigation for anti-corruption and other bodies to function independently and shall merge with the Lokpal.
I share an excerpt of one video which will give you an idea on how corrupt the politicians are.
