Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - The World Is My Family

The title “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is in Sanskrit. Sanskrit, like Hebrew, Greek and Latin is known to be one of the oldest languages of human civilization. To determine the age of this language is almost impossible while historians will debate on it.  What we have in findings goes back to as old as 4,000 years.  The oldest known atomic theory “Vaisesikha” is known to be as old as 2 B.C. is in Sanskrit. This philosophy was composed by Sage Kanabhuk. Kanabhuk means, atom eater. He was named so after he came up with the atomic philosophy.

The treatise is very beautiful, interesting, scientific and above all philosophical. It is very rare when one comes across something so scientific and yet very intense from a pensive scholar. One would be surprised to know that this philosophy not only talks about the attributes of the atom, but also the three laws of motion which was later discovered by  Sir Isaac Newton.

Vasudhaiva comes from Vasudha = world, Yeva = that which lays emphasis upon. Kutumbakam means family. All Indian languages have influences of Sanskrit, while experts suggest that all the Indian languages have originated from Sanskrit. There is not enough evidence to prove that as the Dravidian script has no similarities with Sanskrit at all, except has influences of words. In Hindi Kutumbakam is shortened to Kutumb and in Tamil, the same word becomes Kudumbam.

Why did I think of merging Vaisesika philosophy with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam? Both have deep roots in Vedanta. They cannot grow independently. If they do, then either one will end up not knowing the cohesive properties of an atom, or one will only end understanding the atom without being aware of the matter which consists of the former.

It will take me pages to go deep into this philosophy as I myself honestly know only excerpts and I am presenting it here to you. I wouldn’t want to humiliate the great scholars who have researched and completely merged with the truth presented in these mind blowing Sutras. The atom (Sanskrit = Anus) is considered as the universal energy which exists in all. This also means that all of creation has been visualized by the “Creator” and created from this atom.

“The world is my family” was a philosophy perceived by the rishis of India as not only a vision, but a philosophy one must practice only to create peace and harmony all over the earth. Have we humans also been created from the anus, is not a debatable fact. When all the five elements, according to this science are known to be a product of the atom, then the five senses of perception and five organs of action, instrument of the former, are all part and parcel of the same.

There is an atomic Hindu, atomic Christian, atomic Muslim and an atomic Jew and they are all bursting at each other like atom bombs. Unfortunately, what the atomic theory was originally discovered by the great Rishi Kanabhuk, has been totally reversed today. The enlightened seer saw the atom as the one with and without attributes, the one that exists in earth, water, fire, air and ether. Matter is nothing but building blocks of atoms; one can see how well each and every moment of our life is guided by this universal force either positively or in a negative way.

Now, if I say thoughts are also nothing but atomic forces, one may disagree. I welcome it. The thought created the atom bomb, and one part of our atomic family died in Pearl Harbour and Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The colour of the skin, features of eyes, height, voice, language, and obviously the weather conditions which created the food and human race in a certain way has brought in the variety and this variety is the cause of atoms working everywhere.

Why is somebody white skinned and someone black, brown or yellow or probably there is a blue somewhere we haven’t noticed yet. In all these differences, someone out there is so stupid to call himself racially superior or even claim superiority over religion and God. I would suggest my friends to read the Vaisesika philosophy to understand how the characteristics of anus work, and how closely we can connect with the omnipresent life that exists on this planet, and we are all nothing but one atomic family.

My small atomic family: I am the youngest and I have two elder sisters. I was never away from my mother in spirit as well as flesh (when I wasn’t attending school). I have the most patient father in the world. Patience is his virtue and one can never see anger reflecting on his face. This patience earned him great respect and admiration at his work place. We, as his children only heard words of praises about our father from his colleagues over the years. They all knew us as children of Mr. Rajagopalan. We were a happy and united family, until things turned worse on the day our mom expired. My father decided to send us under the care of his brothers’ families. Trust me. It is never the same.

That was the beginning of my journey to Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. It is still manifesting and hasn’t arrived to completion.

I love what you've presented of this philosophy, Shyam. I believe that all the dissension and prejudice and fighting happens because we're not very evolved yet, but we are moving ever forward towards a more enlightened consciousness of the reality that we're all one. Along the way, individuals with greater wisdom are like beacons for us.

Thank you again, Jennifer. I always wait in patience for you to comment on what I write. lol You are right about not being evolved and many theorists do suggest that 2012 will be an end to that era. Let us hope so and look for a brighter day. Individuals with greater wisdom are born solely for the purpose as you suggested. The only possible thing to do is, keep thinking good, and sending positive vibrations. We are all human magnets.Take care.
